Rebecca Fry's Blog On
My notes: The sounds of this film is used to create a sense of discomfort. It is either dead silent or there is eerie music. The music is added in moments where the action is pique, such as when the husband is killing the wife and when he is setting up the rifle. The camera work and angles are always at a position where you can see what a character is looking at or the whole scene. Such as the over the shoulder shots when they husband and wife are disagreeing, the point of view shot when the husband spots the wife, and when the shot begins with someone walking to the camera to show them move. The editing puts together all of the shots so that it shows the current focusing point. Such as showing the guy as he speaks and the wife when she does. The changing of viewpoints while the scene plays out keeps us interested whereas if it kept one shot the entire time it would be boring. The use of mise-en-scène in the film is also used to achieve a sense of discomfort by it happening during the night, in a dimly lit house. The basement is dirty and old which is contrasting to the nice decorating of the upstairs floor.

We are supposed to complete the first draft of our magazine cover soon, and I’m still not convinced on my idea of baking, but it’s the best one I have so far, and perhaps I can use it as an excuse to start up my old hobby of it, seeing as I have not had too much free time as of late.
In all honesty, I have no idea where to begin. I consider myself a creative person, and I once I have an idea I like, adding on to it is the easiest thing in the world for me, that being said, I'm stuck. There are so many options for what I could develop my magazine around, yet none seem to stick out for me. I’m considering a few options, but the only one I believe I could find enough content to get somewhere is baking, but I'm not in love with the idea, so I guess I will just have to wait and see if I find something better.
